The Pennine Way - 50 Today
The Pennine Way stretches 268 miles, from the Peak District to the Scottish Borders, and takes in three national parks and one area of outstanding natural beauty. It was fully opened 50 years ago today.
I've never walked the full length, but I've walked a good number of miles on it where it passes through Calderdale and Yorkshire.
A four part weekly programme on the Pennine Way started on BBC One on Friday 10 April. It is only being broadcast to Yorkshire & Lincolnshire, North East & Cumbria, and the North West, but it is available nationwide on the iPlayer for 30 days thereafter.
