Dunvartney Bay

Did a southern loop of the peninsula today. Down to Campbeltown then followed the road past Davaar Island and the incredibly amusing hill named The B@st@rd - plenty jokes were made about that one ;) We had decided to stop and give the dogs a run as soon as we saw a suitable beach and what a beach it was. the house and boatshed at the other end of the beach reminded us of the Lemony Snicket film which we had seen a month or so back. looking the other way we could see the Art Deco Keil Hotel sitting overlooking the bay like a Bond villans lair.
After spending a while a the beach we continued on to Keil Point where we saw loads of seals basking on the rocks. A quick trip up the steps to see St Columbas footprints and the caves and  time to sit and have our picnic and admire the next beach!
then of course we had to do the proper tourist thing and drive along the single trach road as far as we could towards the Mull of Kintyre with peter 'singing' the song all the way...

Back up to Campbeltown then a quick detour to Macrihanish to do a couple of geocaches before making our way back up to the van.
