Another tiring day.
Well, an unexpected day off (we were meant to be going to a wedding but our sitter fell through and we couldn't go) meant we had a day free so we decided to go to the kelpies. There can be few worse sign posted tourist attractions in the uk. We found the falkirk wheel eventually and it was pretty impressive. So we thought we'd go to the kelpies as well. Bloody hell. 'Scuse my French! We spent about an hour driving round falkirk and camelon following the tantalisingly few road signs and even, at one point, heading the wrong way down a one way street in our state of complete confusion. On the way we found chunks of the antonine wall, which was pretty cool and after nearly three hours travelling around finally got directed to the correct road for the kelpies. Once there we followed the road to the car park only to find a pair of clueless ticket sellers looking for two quid to park. Of course we hadn't brought our cash (largely seeing it as an opportunity to stretch the beasts legs) so we turned round and fuming slightly headed back.
Tip. The farther back car park is free which we discovered from a tourist (and not the ticket sellers) so we finally managed to go to see the kelpies. They actually are very impressive and worth the visit. So, follow signs for the helix park as they're right beside it and if you want to see them after visiting the falkirk wheel, take the A9 towards grangemouth and you will get there!
