Macro: Bearded Iris After the Rain
See a bigger beard.
Irises are beautiful. For me the most beautiful of all is the Bearded Iris, with the extravagant colour combinations, veining and those lovely hairy 'beards'.
This morning I went out to find it had been raining again earlier - not only was this Iris finally fully open but had aquired an embellishment of raindrops. I took 10 minutes to grab some shots of it. So it's another flower and raindrop blip, although unlike the cold, bland white of yesterday's Rosa Rugosa this Iris is warm, glowing and vibrant (and minus a bee!). I'd blipped my lovely purple and mauve-blue Bearded Iris on 21st May (and purple's my fave colour), but this golden orange and rust one is without any doubt my favourite of them. I also used to have a lovely mauve and peachy-pink one, but it gave up the ghost (note to self: try to find another one of those!)
I'm glad I managed that early blipping session today as it's now dry so there's no raindrops , and I've had a rotten week sleep wise - last night being the worst of all (about 3 and 1/2 hours, aaargh). So I now feel totally shattered. I could happily doze off right now I think , if I didn't still have dinner to eat. Thank heavens it's a 4 day weekend!
Have a great Bank Holiday blipland! xx
