Hard to see
in the middle of a pond full of duck weed: a baby alligator, the head not bigger than my fist. This picture was taken on Almira Island, another Coastal Barrier Island. (we visited 5) The most northern one in Florida and very close to the airport from where we wanted to fly out. The Island has a beautiful historic town and some industry, but also large swamps that were unfortunately not open for photographers. They were accessible only for Golfers and owners of huge properties, all behind gates.Annoying!
In the most northern part of the islnd we found this pond, not much wildlife to be seen, as the area, that surrounds an old Fort, is open for so much biker, hiker and camper pleasure, that all animals are rather shy .
In the same pond we saw the turtle that I will upload as a first in our new "mystery feature"... And I will try to upload the sunrise that we saw before we headed out in search of wildlife at 7 am. (All pictures are straight out of the camera, except for a little cropping and sharpening)
At 2 pm we had to drive to the airport.
Thanks so much for your comments and stars. Most kind!
