Five Year Quilt

Today my friend Ann showed me her work in progress quilt. It's nearly finished, and very lovely. My photo doesn't do it justice (when do they ever?).

She has been working on it for five years, and it's made from pieces of her two daughters favourite dresses. Her oldest daughter was there, pointing out pieces of her nightdress when she was six, her favourite summer dress, her sisters pyjamas. It was really sweet and very inspiring, all made by hand.

I've been thinking of doing some hand quilting for a while now and I'm not sure if this beautiful labor of love has inspired or intimidated me!

Ann was hosting our monthly knitting group - notice the cupcakes in he foreground! Lemon they were, and just delicious.
