Rockstar's first ride out!
Poor Nelson felt a bit hard done to today. First of all he had to go on a hack with Port, where it rained on us. As if that wasn't bad enough, he then had to babysit Rocksie.
First, we stood in the middle of a field as she was trotted around us for a bit. Then we took her out for her first trip along the lane to one of the woods that surround the farm.
Rocksie did brilliantly - the first challenge was getting in as the gamekeeper had locked the gate. The boundary fence only runs along for a few yards after the gateway so we are able to get in between the trees, although Nelson and I had to pass in and out three times before Rocksie agreed to follow us with Emma. I'm going with this spelling of her shortened name as this has most of the letters of her official name. Rocksie that is, not Emma!
As you can see from the bottom right photo, the track through the wood is good. The woods are Duchy of Lancaster land, that is, they belong to the Queen. When she came to visit, the tracks were made good to allow for her vehicle to pass through as part of her tour of the area.
It was all new to Rocksie, but she did really well, even when we trotted them on. The only thing she was wary of was the shelter built for Her Majesty in case of bad weather. It's a bit like a large bus shelter randomly placed in the middle of the wood. Rocksie gave it as wide a berth as possible, just incase there was anybody in there ( waiting for a bus?! ).
For her first time out, the girl did good!
