BFF
“I know she has dreams, high hopes,
but I fear it will all go wrong for her.
She’ll bounce back. She always copes.
And I, of course, will be there with my shoulder to cry on,
saying, ‘There, there, forget him, he’s not worth it.’
I’ll stroke her hair and it will be like old times;
the two of us, best friends forever, united
against the world, fending off the bullies,
just like when we were at school.
It’ll be so cool
until she gets restless and bitchy again
and cuts me up as only she can.
Then she’ll meet another bloody man!”
