Camassia
Another garden blip!
This is a plant a friend gave me years ago.
They are usually blue, but I admired this white one in her garden, and she dug some up for me.
Didn't know much about the plant until I decided today to find out more.
" The name Camassia is derived from the name Kamas given by the Nootka Chinook native American people.
One type of camassia species were an important food staple for Native Americans and settlers in parts of American Old West.
The naming of Camas County, Idaho, indicates the importance of this plant."
It can be seen in the damp fertile meadows of North America.
In future when I look at this plant I will remember it's fascinating history!
The BIG weekend is here! Hope the weather is better than forcast, and whatever you are doing have a great time!
Hope the information is correct. If not I'm sure someone on Blip will tell me!
