Cup of tea, Sir?
We went for another elephant ride this morning. In retrospect, probably we could have given this outing a miss, but when we booked it, I thought "Ooh, a trek in the jungle - with a bit of luck we'll see some interesting animals and birds". In fact, we saw nothing much apart from the back of the elephant in front of us, and the front of the elephant behind us. The mahouts were making so much noise chatting and joking that the chances of spotting any shy jungle fauna were zilch.
Then we had a few hours relaxing in our tree house - we're on the river side, and sitting on our balcony we can hear the river, and the cicadas, and occasionally the gibbons - no traffic or human noise at all, (apart from the guys who today were rewiring the lights along the path). We spent some time admiring an ant, which was gradually digging a hole in the wooden table, and creating a pile of sawdust.
This afternoon, we had a canoe ride on the river, stopping at one point for a cup of tea. We have the bamboo cups seen in this blip as souvenirs. Saw some herons and other birds, but no photos.
