Bramblings, Direct From Britain

Today our garden was invaded by a large flock of brambling, mixed with a few sisken and a single willow tit. (In Swedish - Bergfink, Grönsiska, & Talltita)
This makes it sound like I’m really knowledgeable about birds but actually we needed to look at up two of those three.(Sisken was the one we knew.)
These rather nattily patterned birds are bramblings, part of the finch family. They overwinter in Britain, but leave in the spring to breed in Scandinavia, so they have just arrived and seemed very glad to find a feeder filled with  sunflower seeds and a few fatballs hanging from twigs. They were voracious, emptying the feeder in a few hours.
