Applecross

After a bit of rock pool clambering in the early sunshine, we headed to the Sky Serpentarium first thing for some reptile rescue action. We all held Goldie the snake and marvelled at the monitor lizards, so sad why folk traffic these beasties away from their native homes.

Snakes put back to bed, we left Skye behind and headed first for Plockton, finally being able to get some money from the post office in the shed so we could buy some ice cream. Then it was onto Torridon and round Applecross over the pass. We stopped for Dave to get a lobster sandwich - just as he had remembered it 20 odd years ago - saw a flying black octopus in the Sky on one of the bays, let a fleet of classic cars and then motorbikes head on past, eyed the helicopter landing and taking off again as part of the NATO exercise, cursed the NATO exercise for agitating the whales and stopped to take in some of the most amazing views Scotland has. And it has a lot. Can't beat seeing mountains, sea lochs, the sea and islands all in one's eye, all at the same time, especially in the sunshine.
