Bonfire

What is it draws us,
With pagan satisfaction,
To glory in flames?

We have had a long stretch of dry weather and a large pile of stuff on the bonfire so it seemed a good time to light it. 

Unfortunately there was rather too much stuff and the flames became rather too high, reaching into the branches of the trees nearby and spreading in a widening circle.  There was nothing for it but to run up and down the garden to get buckets of water to make a fire break....

Later, after dark, all had calmed and the embers glowed with the satisfaction of a good meal.

I do love a bonfire!
