Fly fishing at Lake Sheppard
Over the hill from Lake Taylor is Lake Sheppard. It's only a fly fishing lake and despite the strong wind and my less than great fly fishing skills, I took up the offer to fly fish. You also have to walk there (the road is part of the tracks for the Lakes Station).
What a stunning place! Rugged, wild and quintessential NZ high country. I returned to the shearers quarters with both ears and checks intact so I didn't do too badly ;-)
In the morning we mostly fished from the boat. It was a bit rough at times but that tends to excite the fish. That made the rainy parts better.
