Gang-gangs
I heard a different bird sound above my head and was delighted to discover one, two, - no- three, four of these lovely birds in the gum trees above me. The gang-gang cockatoo (Callocephalon fimbriatum) is the faunal emblem of the Australian Capital Territory and they are such pretty birds, they must have been an easy choice. The males have a vibrant red head with a charcoal body. The females are all charcoal but the tips of each feather are ribbed with cream and red. Consequently, it's a bit odd that I am posting a mono of it! Take a look at the extra photos to see them in lovely colour.
