Fire…...

Well I had a few plans for the MonoMonday theme 'Fire' today….. the vintage fire buckets at Ingrow steam railway station… didn't have time to go…. the vintage fire engine on display at Salts Mill…managed to get there but closed on Mondays… booooo….. and Valley Parade football stadium, Bradford… sadly didn't have time to go there either :(
So here's a tap, water thingy, at Salts Mill which controls the water to a fire hose on a wheel there… do they still do that these days?
It is of course 30 years (11th May 1985) since the terrible fire at Valley Parade football stadium where 56 people lost their lives.  I worked for a while at the Citizens' Advice Bureau and worked with a really lovely lady volunteer who was at the match… she woke in hospital to the news that she'd lost her husband and his daughter who she was stood with at the match… I also worked with a nurse who was called in to help treat the burns victims in the aftermath.  There was a minute's silence at football matches throughout the UK yesterday.
