Mono Monday - Phoenix arising

I've tried this technique of shooting the ignition point of a match a couple of times before. The first time in November 2013 was the most successful. Another attempt in December 2014 missed the ignition, but gave a nice smoke effect.  Today, I couldn't even manage that: I thought practice made perfect, I seem to be regressing :(

However,  as I was intending to submit this to today's mono monday challenge of Fire,  I converted the best attempt to B&W in Lightroom and started tweaking.  Suddenly, a bird appeared in the flame - the legendary Phoenix, which dies in a show of flames before arising from the ashes of its predecessor.
