Interior worlds
Grace was in a dance show at school tonight. It was the first time we've seen her dance. The first time we've seen her on stage since Junior School. Dancing to 'This Women's Work' by Kate Bush. It was - she was - beautiful. It felt strange to see her do something so far out of my comfort zone and look so natural doing it. Our children are not like us. Hurray for that.
It's been an inspiring and creative day. And you don't often hear that on a Monday.
There is a chance that a work project that we've talked about on and off for years may happen. Not for a while, and it's not certain, but for the first time it feels like a definite possibility rather than a daydream.
(In my head it's already happened of course and I've cut the red ribbon and poured the champagne.
I have to Be Patient. Which I'm not.)
But in the meantime I get to make moodboards, and surf design websites, and think up names for paint colours and read articles about the psychology of shopping and pin things on Pinterest and blow an imaginary sky-high budget ..
I like that sort of work.
