9/11 Memorial NYC

This Callery Pear Tree is the only tree that survived the 9/11 attack in 2001. After 9/11, workers found the damaged tree in the wreckage at Ground Zero.

The New York Parks Department worked on the damaged tree stump, and it is now sprouting new branches, and blossom in Spring time. It was in flower today, when we made our visit......so I thought, this has to be today's Blip.

The tree is supported, as you can see, by temporary guide wires, until it takes root.
