Sailing...
Summer finally seems to of hit Maine...well for now at least so yesterday, myself and 2 friends (Sally & Mckenzie) decided we'd go sailing. A friend we work with is a crew member on the boat, so that was a lot of fun, and we sang Happy Birthday to a little girl travelling too.
The Schooner Eleanor is a private charter boat, that does 2 hour sails, docking next to the Arundel Wharf Restaurant in Kennebunkport. Sailing down the Kennbunk River, heading out to sea, is truly amazing :) Now, I've never been on a sail boat before, so I thought I may get a little sea sick, alas I lasted the journey.
Heading past The Breakwater Inn & Spa, we called a fellow colleague to come out and say hello. There he was (in what we thought was his underwear, that turned out to be his swimming turnks) waving at us and looking very uncomfortable :P Haha we love ya Tom!
We headed to the Mile Marker and got to see all the lobster traps, well the bouys for them. Turning round, past Walker's Point (George Bush Snr. and Barbara Bush's summer home, heading back down the channel to the river and back to the docks. Whilst heading back, a fog descended down over Kennebunk and the Port, which was very eerie and you can understand why people get lost at sea!
It was nice to relax after working 9 days straight, and then headed to a friend's for a BBQ and songs around the campfire.
Needles to say, but I will be going sailing again :)
Maine, the way life should be...
