The first cut of the season
Mr hazelh was going to sort out our hanging baskets today, but when he checked the weather forecast he decided against it. Instead he mowed the lawn for the first time this season. It's lucky that he did so this morning because the weather turned really nasty after lunch: sleet followed hail!
Normally I would have been at my book group meeting this evening. However, given that four of our members could not make it, instead I went out for supper with S. We had a fabulous eight course meal at the Gardener's Cottage while discussing literature, including the book that I have just read - Ungrateful daughters by Maureen Waller - amongst other things. (Our next book group book is Mrs Hemingway by Naomi Wood, should anyone else like to read along with us.)
Exercise today: a short run (hurrah!), sit-ups, weights, walk to the restaurant and back (1 hour).
