A day at Standon, West Sussex.
A friend and I spent a day at Standon, the farmhouse and land was bought by James
Beale ( a successful London Solicitor )for a
family retreat for holidays, latter went James
retired it became the family home.
It was built by Phillip Webb, the original 15th
century farmhouse was linked to the main
house by an archway. The decore was done by William Morris. When the new house was built
electricity was added in1892-1894 , this was unusual and except for Cragside having the first in1891 ( Northumbria )
