Goldilocks
Until very recently I had no idea there were so many different species of buttercup. I cannot believe I was so naive. According to the latest flora there are 30 species and hybrids of buttercups (Genus Ranunculus) in the UK.
Of these 30 species 3 are very common, the Creeping buttercup, the Meadow buttercup, and the Bulbous buttercup.
This however is the Goldilocks Buttercup (Ranunculus auricomus agg) a short, slightly hairy plant with quite delightful imperfect flowers with often only one or two petals and stems with deeply lobed upper leaves.
I love finding out new things, I shall be looking for the other buttercup species now
