Mullardoch ridge walk
A simply monstrous walk today. Started off with the help of Angus the ferryman and his super little boat that dropped us at the other end of Loch Mullardoch in 10 minutes. Then we then had the long walk back to the starting point at the dam via numerous tops and the 4 Munros that make up the ridgeline running along the north side of the loch.
The weather was hot and sunny - the showers and cloud stayed resolutely to the south of us. Saw three White-tailed Eagles on the way up, but they cleared off when they saw us so my photos are just little bird silhouettes. We found pellets and middens streaked with Eagle squit at various prominences along the ridge and also at one point were mobbed by a pair of fighting skylarks.
We were aided by a couple of easy snow descents, but despite this, the walk was simply exhausting and we arrived back at the car 11 hours later pretty comprehensively shattered. The ridge walk was marvellous but it did go up and down a lot and the worst bit was the final walk out along the boggy low lying trails, but at least we didn't have the long walk along the lochside (most walk this route in reverse) - thanks Angus! About 16km and 5600ft total climb I think.
The picture shows a view back from the third Munro along the ridge line. The distant saw tooth in the background are the Cuillins on Skye.
