Rolls Royce Rocket Engine
Stopping off at Woomera, they have a wonderful public museum of their rocket testing past. This is a Rolls Royce RZ2 engine. This was one of 2 engines used to launch Europa 1 development flight 5 rocket from Lake Hart November 1966. This engine used kerosine as its propellant and developed 136,363 kg of thrust lifting 100 tonnes to an altitude of 66km, Burn time of 144 seconds reaching a velocity of 10,566 km per hour. This engine was recovered from the Simpson desert in 1999.
