Wide Angle Wednesday :: Signs and Symbols
This sign is near the beginning of my afternoon dog walk. It is just behind the fence stopping folk from falling down an embankment above the local train station car park.
The train station itself was opened in 1868 as part of the South Eastern Railway network. In 1923 the line came under control of Southern until it was nationalised in 1948.
In 1993 British Rail was denationalised and the line was taken on in 1996 by Connex South Eastern, a company so badly run they lost their franchise 8 years early. Today the trains are run by Southeastern.
So this sign has seen many changes since it was erected and survived all of them by being hidden and out of sight of any clipboard carrying railway mandarin.
It's just a shame it doesn't really explain why it was placed there in the first place...
As with all my Wide Angel Wednesday Blips I have used my 9mm BCL.
Our thanks goes to Chantler63 for being this month's host.
