A rare event.

Today the British have started a weekend of celebrations to mark the accession to the throne of Queen Elizabeth II, on February 6th 1952. I wasn't sure how best to record the occasion but eventually decided on this small cup. It is a memento of the coronation, in 1937, of Elizabeth's father and has, on one side a small painting of the young Princess.

Later on we might gently wave the paper flag that Mrs Talpa's grandfather waved at Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee in 1897.
