The Real Thing

This is the proper 'English' bluebell. The wild hyacinth. Hyacintha nonscripta. I found this one under a hedge, hence the dodgy focus. Compare it with the invader which I blipped two days ago. Notice the droop on the real deal and the erect stance of the invader. Notice the creamy white pollen on the anthers compared with the blue pollen on the invader.

And the real bluebell has a scent which the hybrids don't.

Which would you rather have in your wood/garden?

The RHS will sell you cultivated English Bluebells, if you look on their website. Accept no substitutes!
