Spent some time in the garden today. Found myself planting red geraniums for the first time ever - not usually a flower I choose for my garden. As I looked at the combination of flowers I had put together in this particular spot in my garden I saw red and blue salvia, white dusty miller, and the red geraniums (that have yet to bloom). It wasn't until then that I realized I was channeling my grandma through these flowers of her choice. Every year she would fill the big flower pots at the beach cabin with red geraniums and blue and white lobelia. Although I never confirmed this with her, knowing what a wonderful party planner she was, I'm sure she planned (way back in April) this color scheme so that the pots would be overflowing with red, white and blue just in time for the 4th of July celebration. I'm looking forward to having my own patriotic garden this year that will remind me of GG all through the Summer.
