Flower Friday – Pincushion hakea
Hakea laurina
One of my favourite native trees (though it's from WA, not Victoria). I don't have one, but a neighbour does and it's conveniently on their fence line, so whenever it starts flowering, I'm out on the nature strip with my camera.
The extra photo shows the different stages of the flower, from tight white buds to unfurling loops, to fully open; starting creamy and becoming darker pink.
