Beauty and sadness

Today we went over to the house we bought for my in-laws many years ago. They lived there until they passed on and the house has now been empty for 18 months.

We decided that we would rent the house out but it has taken us a long time to get it cleared and ready - largely because it's between a 3 and 6 hour round trip (M25 delight!).

Today was supposed to be the final day of work (it wasn't!) and I made a start by mowing the lawns. No mean feat with 6" wet grass, 150' of lawn, a sharp incline and a broken mower!

The tulips were beautiful and I had a bittersweet moment thinking of the joy they would have given to my in-laws over the years.
