Arthur's Seat: view east from an extinct volcano

This was my first walk to the top of Arthur's Seat.  Weather dull but the sun gradually breaking through, interesting views to be had.

(MAIN PHOTO)

There are two large volcanic plugs in Midlothian (Arthur's Seat at 250m. & Castle Rock 130m.) and two in East Lothian (North Berwick Law at 187m. & Bass Rock 107m).  Edinburgh's Castle is more or less directly behind me, the two East Lothian rocks are visible on the horizon some twenty or so miles away.  You can almost connect all four using a single straight line.  I find this rather interesting.....

Closer to Arthur's Seat, this view shows much of Eastern Edinburgh, then Portobello and Musselburgh, further on are Prestonpans and the tall towers of the coal-powered power station at Cockenzie.

(EXTRA PHOTO)

View westwards of Edinburgh Castle and Old Town, with some sunshine.  At bottom right is part of Salisbury Crags.

Both photos were shot in RAW and received a lot of digital tweaking to bring out the detail.
