The Lowlight...

Walked along to the fishquay with Sue, and had a little foray into North Shields for a few bits and bobs. Learned new stuff about the area - asyoudo - which I will no doubt blip on future occasions! My new fact for today is about the steep stairs which link the quayside to the "plateau" above. The lower area became a shanty town, and when it wasn't possible to build any more down there, respectable people moved higher up the hill to the plateau above. The steep stone staircases which linked the two levels are a remnant of these times - see extra photo...
