Gardening...

It's a long holiday weekend in the UK. And while the weather isn't going to be as warm as it was a few days ago, people will still be blocking the roads to the coast, the Yorkshire Dales, the Peak District, the Lakes and every other tourist attraction within reach of the city.

We're going to stay home, I'm not keen on sitting in traffic jams. We're going to work on the garden, there's still some of the winter mess to be tidied up. I like to split the jobs into manageable chunks. Today it was clearing leaves out of gutters and then the fun bit was to plant up some of the pots. Lots of French Marigolds and Dianthus. They look a bit small and forlorn at the moment but, give them water, food, sunshine and care, they will thrive for the rest of the summer, rewarding us with masses of colour before the frosts of autumn see them off.
