May Day Rally and March

I was struck by the youthfulness, energy, and intensity of the protesters today. I only attended the rally. At the march that followed the rally, protesters met the police and despite pepper spray, tear gas, and crowd-control grenades (smoke and deafening sound)--the crowd overwhelmed the police, and the police retreated. As soon as the police disappeared, the peace was restored and the crowd went home.
