Wary Chamois

Driving down the Inn valley in heavy rain and lowering clouds to drop Swisspiper off in Austria to begin her bike and boat trip along the Danube with her mother, we were amazed to see a large herd of Chamois grazing in a meadow close to the road. They were still wary and on the look-out, and scattered as soon as I got out of the car; this one looked back contemptuosly before disappearing into the tree-covered gorge.
