Tour de Yorkshire
After the success of Le Grand Depart last year in Yorkshire, Gary Verity has helped to organise our very own Tour de Yorkshire this year, a three day spectacle around our great county.
As hubby is working tomorrow, and the weather forecast is bad, we decided to drive through to York today where the tour was finishing. I have to say I was disappointed at the lack of decoration in the city centre, although the racecourse looked more interesting. We found a half decent spot without having to wait round too long - the very best spots were taken much earlier but it was too cold to hang round for that length of time.
We saw the cyclists do two laps - and as we were positioned just off a bend they weren't going past as fast as they did last year! Bit jealous that the hubby got a shot of Sir Bradley on his phone while I seem to have missed him altogether with the DSLR!! There was a big screen up just down the road so once they had passed for the second time we walked up there to see the finish before going for a warm drink to thaw out!
Been a good day all round - two new babies born, one very precious one to friends of ours, and one royal princess. Liverpool managed a win and a Stevie G goal, the Baggies improved results even more! And we had a yummy Chinese.
But thoughts go out to Rio Ferdinand and his children after the sad news about his wife. Makes me grateful for what I have.
