Onions and Custard!

This fruit is called durian and as you can see it is a really big fruit with a nobbly tough skin. In Cambodia my students told me that years ago teachers would make their students kneel on the skins as a punishment ...ouch! This is a durian cake shop and loads of people were queuing up to buy the freshly baked cakes straight from the oven. In all my years in Asia I have never once eaten it maybe because the first person who told me about it when I was in the Philipinnes said it tasted like onions and custard. Perhaps one day I should have a taste. However, I think it's probably a bit like marmite.
