'Far from the Madding Crowd' house

We had an afternoon out at a local National Trust house, Claydon House near Buckingham, family seat of the Verney family. It has recently been used as the location of Mr Boldwood's house in the new film of Thomas Hardy's 'Far from the Madding Crowd'. It isn't a very remarkable house in its present state, although it would have been extremely grand had the family not gone bankrupt in the 1800s. Florence Nightingale was Lady Verney's sister and a regular visitor.
