Fred & Andy

Another train journey ...

We decide to move on after all so after breakfast we take the 0923 train to Ohiya. We knew it was small but are slightly surprised as we get off as its tiny with just a few houses and one homestay type guest house. There are some posher hotels around up in the hills but we decide on the homestay and get a really cheap rate for a room and all meals, including packed lunch for our trip to Horton Plains National Park which is why we are here. The homestay is right by the railway and Fred thinks she's in the railway children going out to look at all the trains as they go by and wave.

Its a beautiful spot but there's not much to do here so we do some hand washing and then it starts to rain so the afternoon is spent reading, chilling, playing violin and cards.

The family go out for the evening and leave us in the hands of an aunt and uncle who are very sweet and make us an excellent dinner. Unfortunately we can't shower as we don't know how it works and neither do they but we'll have one tomorrow after the National Park.

Its another early start in the morning so we try to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Its nice and cool where we are as its over 1000 m above sea level so sleep should be easier.
