Day 201 - Pondicherry

We have been intrigued by the many chalk or rice flour drawings we have seen on the streets in India, and finally found out what they are. Every morning and evening, many women in south India wash the ground outside their door and draw a kolam, a normally geometric picture which is intended to bring prosperity to the home, as well as welcoming all into the house. This kolam is a little more elaborate, and is situated at the door to the museum in Pondicherry.
