Central part of the ashlar viaduct of Gilmour Street station (1840 and later) on the northside of the square with the arched entrance to the booking hall flanked by octagonal turrets and castellated to match the now sacrificed Gaol on the southside which has given way to the vulgar 1960s Piazza and offices
Its neighbour on the west side is the red sandstone former Post Office (1892-93) now a popular pub called appropriately The Last Post
