The Big Day

They started baking it in February and today The Jubilee Cake gets a big send off from the villagers of this sleepy backwater of Port Appin.
Here, in this poignant picture, captured for posterity by local amateur photographer Nick O'nlens, the crane successfully places the cake into the harbour to be towed down Loch Horribol and into the Scottish Sea - next stop the capital.
Ali MacHoist, crane operator waves triumphantly as his delicate mission is completed with out a crumb being shed.
It's a big well done to the plucky Port Appiners...
