to Move House

All the bees flying out of a beehive localise themselves so that they can find their way home.

The bees are so accurate at this that there can be trouble if a beehive has to be moved for some reason.  If the hive is moved by more than about six inches then the bees from that hive may not be able to find the entrance and either get lost or drift in to another hive.

Here you see my spare colony in its bee hive being moved  in order to replace another hive that has been found to be unsatisfactory.  

So here it is beginning its journey inch by inch to its new site a few yards away.

The journey will take about a fortnight.
