Arriving at the Black Sail Youth Hostel...

in Ennerdale. We walked up the valley, (perfect gentle walk for my improving foot) from the Ennerdale Bridge Hostel, and were met by our son, daughter-in-law, and Emily and Will the grandchildren who had scampered up over Honister to get here. Our son borrowed a bike down to ride to meet us as we had taken a somewhat longer time.
It is such a wonderful area that is undergoing a 'wilding' process. A project to protect the valley and allow all it's natural growth to develop, and the only building is this little Youth Hostel. At the moment this is run superbly by a lovely friendly couple who produce great meals and look after the place beautifully.
