Way past Easter
For the first time in six weeks I joined our volunteers in the Charity Shop in Queen Street.
Bernie (seen here) Mary and Abdulla were on today and they claim that I was more or less in the way.
Bernie got a notion that this football easter egg may somehow go bad!!, even though it was in date until August.
I got the lump hammer, one smash, and it was time to attack
Everyone got some including the shoppers!!
We had a great day financially and gastronomically (if thats a word).
This is a very special place, run by ourselves when we are not "enjoying ourselves in Malawi", but mainly by a group of seriously dedicated women, who not only look after the business, but the customers as well.
In three years it has become a place for friendships, comforting, advice on a range of topics and wonderful bargains and deals!!.
Bernie is an amazing woman and why wouldn't she? She has an amazing daughter Elaine who has volunteered in Malawi on eight occasions and is legendary with all the Malawian people she journeyed with.
Then there are Lena, Eileen, Mary G, Mary W, Marie, Kate, who give so much to the Malawi cause and are so diligent despite it costing them money to do the job. They contribute about a quarter of the running cost of the project in Malawi.
