A life in pictures...

No warning!

As part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Liberation of Guernsey from the Germans, many island schools are holding commemorative events. On Friday, H has to go to school dressed as an evacuee. His clothes are prepared and tonight we made his gas mask box. I think I'm right in saying that as many as 5000 children were evacuated from Guernsey during the war. H has learnt "We'll meet again" as part of the celebration. Hearing him sing it this evening really made me think of how utterly horrendous it must have been for the parents to have to make the choice to send their children away or to keep them here in Guernsey, to face a truly uncertain future. What a decision to have to make.
