Llama Portrait.
Yesterday, our venerable leader of today's cycle run emailed suggesting that the weather forecast justified a cancellation. He was disappointed to find 6 hardy souls turn up at the start this morning intent on having a good time; one of our number was so enthusiastic that she said "Goodbye" with the intent of taking a short-cut home three times before she actually did so - by then she only missed the ceremonial coffee stop. The usually excellent Whitmuir farm favoured by Lady Findhorn failed to step up to the mark, food was in short supply, the coffee was un-necessarily weak and the service was slow.
We had a couple of cultural diversions, the first being to the Polish "Mapa Scotland" derived from Colonel Maczek's strategic large scale map (45 metres diameter) on which the defence of our Scottish nation was planned in case we were invaded by German forces during the war.
On the way up to the map is a field of llamas, this character was a little bossy and continually surveying his herd; he looked quite comical. I originally intended to do a head-and -shoulders portrait of him but found that the shoulders were rather a long way a-way. Although you can see where his near eye is, it is completely hidden by fur; trying to bring out any detail merely shows more fur in the shadow; it's a wonder that he can actually see out.
