muskrat or beaver?

After talking with another photographer this past weekend, I think this may be a muskrat. Now I'm wondering if my earlier photo was a muskrat and not a beaver.

The extra photo I have included was taken last week and unfortunately the animal appears to be biting something plastic. I think this is a photo of a beaver... or maybe it's a muskrat!?!?!
