Ipswich Regent

The Regent was designed in the 1920's by WE Trent, it was extremely luxurious, with a restaurant, 14 boxes, a resident Wurlitzer organ and organist and an 18-piece orchestra. Unusually, a manager's cottage was incorporated into the theatre design.

In the 70's and 80's we knew it as 'The Gaumont', and one incandescent night we saw the late, great, Rory Gallagher, at his very best.

Last night we saw Stewart Lee, very funny, very clever man. And the newly refurbished 'Regent' was very nearly full!
